After a diploma from the Louvre School completed by a course in art history and archeology at the Sorbonne, it was in 2008 that I created in the prestigious district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés an art gallery presenting archaeological works. For more than 15 years, I proposed exceptional works that allowed me to access the greatest national and international fairs such as BRAFA , the Biennale des Antiquaires or Tefaf-Maastricht .
After a visit to the National Institute of Gemmology where I study the precious and semi-precious stones and the Institute of Bijouterie de Saumur , I strengthened my knowledge on the stones and materials that served to make the archaeological works that I explode.
Even if the gallery is always the place of the meeting between the collector/passionate and the unique work, it seemed to me that the expertise could interested an ever increasing number of owners wishing to know more and to value their heritage.
Thanks to my expertise, the pre -Columbian works of art are authenticated and valued whether as part of the gallery or an auction.
The art of estimating a work
A rigorous approach
The procedures for conservation and dating documents are essential procedures which require very special rigor.
In order to establish the provenance, the era and the history of a play, we proceed to a first visual approach. This is stylistic expertise .
In a second step, we agree with the collector to a set of scientific tests such as thermoluminescence which makes it possible to refine the estimates obtained during stylistic expertise.
Finally, and only if necessary, we turn to restoration in order to return its brilliance to work.
